Farouk Systems, Inc. heads to West, Texas on Sunday, June 9, to donate $100,000 in CHI® and BioSilk® products to victims devastated by the fertilizer plant explosion that took place in April.
FSI, in partnership with West Long-Term Recovery Center and Armstrong McCall, will be distributing products and tools at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 at West Columbus Club (KC Hal) 2547 Jerry Mashek Rd., West, TX. 76691. The distribution is part of the “Day of Fun for Women and Children of West”, an event that includes hands-on arts and crafts fun for children from Stars of Hope, a unique art project bringing hope and inspiration to the children of disaster stricken communities.
15 people were lost in this tragic event, 160 people were injured and over 352 homes were affected by the blast, according to West Long-Term Recovery Center, with 161 of those homes being completely destroyed from the explosion that was triggered by ammonia nitrate. The devastation to the community was immense and recovery efforts are expected to be ongoing for quite some time.
Events like the “Day of Fun” not only provide donations of welcome supplies, but help to boost the spirits of community members. FSI’s donations will include non-ammonia salon products and tool kits for salon owners, and shampoo, conditioner, blow dryers and hairstyling irons for members of the community.
