We fell in absolute LOVE with Jennifer Lawrence’s braided low chignon at the Golden Globes, so we just HAD to create our own version. Inspired by Jennifer’s gorgeous updo, we tapped into Farouk Systems Creative Artist Rocky Vitelli for the “how-to” and set to work. Our version was created on shoulder length hair, showing this look doesn’t require super long locks, either! Editor’s Note: I am not a hairstylist so if I can DIY this, so can you! Give it a try!

Prep: Shampoo and condition hair with volumizing products, such as the CHI Magnified Volume line. Follow with a volumizing and root lifting hair foam and comb through the hair. We recommend CHI Magnified Volume Spray Foam.
1Using your hair dryer with the diffuser attachment, dry hair upside down for added lift at the roots. When almost dry, switch to drying right side up until hair is completely dry.
2Section 2 inches from the front hairline on each side and clip up for later braiding.
3Using your CHI Orbit Styling Tool, curl the remaining hair in 1/2 inch sections. Finger comb CHI Pliable Polish through curls to break up and reduce frizzies.
4Gather the curled hair, twisting into a low chignon, and pin at the back.
5Remove the clip from one of the front sections and braid towards the back. Tuck the ends into the chignon and pin. Repeat for the second side.
6Fix the final look in place with CHI Infra Texture Hair Spray and finish with CHI Shine Infusion for super glamorous shine!
